Quick Tips: Color Correcting Concealer

What comes in green, lilac, pink, and yellow?  The answer is concealers.

And you thought matching the flesh tone shades to your face was hard enough, but nlarge_colorwheelow there is almost every color under the rainbow. Skin isn’t even green (unless of course you are a cartoon character about to be ill) so what could a green concealer even be used for? It all goes back to the same color wheel we all learned back in elementary school art class. The colors across from each other on the color wheel cancel each other out. The same applies to color correcting concealer.

Green Concealer is good for neutralizing any redness in the skin. It can be used to minimize redness under the eyes, blemishes, sunburns, or anywhere else you are looking a little pink.

Lilac and Purple Concealers can be used to correct any unwanted yellow tones in the skin. It can also be used to brighten up a dull yellow-toned complexion.

Pink Concealers are actually more salmon toned and are a mix of red, orange, and yellow hues which makes it the best for combating dark under eye circles. They give the skin an awaken radiance and diminish those raccoon eyes.

Yellow Concealers are the most neutral and are also great for minimizing dark under-eye circles and bruises. They can be used as a nice base for foundation, and even an eyeshadow base if you don’t have one handy.

All color correcting concealers are meant to be applied before other concealers, foundations, and primers. First apply any color correcting in every area you may need it then cover with concealer, foundation, or other makeup that matches your skin.
